1ST INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATION DAYS / DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION AND NEW MEDIA SYMPOSIUM

The main theme of the International Communication Days, which was initiated by Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Communication for the 101st Anniversary of the Republic and planned to become a tradition, has been determined as Digital Transformation and New Media. This symposium, which will become a tradition with the vision of the Turkish Century, will include the listed themes, and all other relevant subject suggestions, which will be created with the awareness of being a nation that has a say in the world in the strong Turkey of the future, can also be discussed in the symposium agenda. The symposium, where national and international expert invited speakers will participate, will be held in a blended format, face to face and online, on 13-14 May 2024. Simultaneous translation service will also be provided for invited speaker sessions at the symposium.

Digital transformation, which is the main topic of our symposium, seems to continue to be the main agenda of 2024. Digital transformation undoubtedly refers to a process that is rapidly spreading in every field. However, as communication experts, we have adopted to focus on the effects of this digitalization on new media, a new actor of the communication age.

In today's world, where digital technologies and digital transformation are accelerating at a dizzying pace, new media channels have actua become a very important new role mate. This brand new and increasingly borderless thing is artificial intelligence, which is an over-the-top daredevil for some, and a loyal sent, a digital slave for others. Of course, those who call this new friend a 'slave' are none other than those who have seen the slavery system as their only savior throughout history. What's e is that they have a utopian vision of enslaving other nations with new media channels that are subject to this digital transformation.

When viewed on a global scale, access to infinite data that will certainly provide great benefits to humanity in the world of almost endless content emerging in new media channels has become possible at every point with internet access. However, in this completely free virtual world, in addition to this extremely useful data circulation, it is unfortunately possible to come across some unethical posts based on disinformation, that is, lies and slander, which are carried out by some evil groups with ulterior motives against these good intentions.

It is obvious that the important thing is to use the digital communication channels we have as a tool that will always take our humanity to brighter, more prosperous and further points. While doing this, it is of great importance to achieve peaceful and bright futures, not by hegemonizing the relevant nations that use these technologies in a way that will only benefit themselves and enslave others, but onthe contrary, that each nation succeeds in a fair and brotherly manne
