On the 2nd day of BAİBÜİLEF-İG 2024, the subject of "Disinformation" was discussed in detail! The Importance of Combating Disinformation and the Struggle for Truth was Emphasized.

The 1st International Communication Days Digital Transformation and New Media Symposium organized by our University's Faculty of Communication hosted important topics on its second day as well. The session titled "Disinformation and the Struggle for Truth", which was held on May 14 at 13:30 in conference hall 1005, was chaired by the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Dr. Emre Tandırlı.
In the session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ergin Şafak Dikmen and Res. Asst. Ayşe Seda Aslan made a presentation titled "Discourse of Climate Change Skepticism on YouTube: The Example of Gzt YouTube Channel", touching on climate policies, and was held online. Then, Res. Asst. Aytekin Çelik presented his presentation titled “Imperialism and Voluntary Exploitation in the Age of Artificial Intelligence” online, starting with the question “Why Are Humans So Suitable for Management?”
In the ongoing symposium, PhD Student Selahattin Bölükbaşı made his presentation titled “Data Journalism Evolving with Digital Transformation” online, talking about the transformation of information into knowledge and giving examples of data journalism. Later, Nareeman Fıras İbrahim made his presentation titled “Self-Presentation in Digital Communication Environments: The Example of Instagram”, touching on the concept of self and the issues of individuals having two identities, virtual and real. Following this, PhD Student Ahmet Fuat Polat touched on digital diseases such as Mouse-Keyboard Disease, Ego Surfing and Blog Exposing in his presentation titled “Digital Diseases of the Digital Age: A Conceptual Framework.”
The symposium was hosted by Res. Asst. Leyla Turğal and Lecturer Atiye Güner’s presentation titled “Metaverse Universe Created with Immersive Technologies in Television News: Habertürk’s Interview Example” continued with information on “The place and future of Metaverse technologies in today’s media, how and in which areas we can use these technologies” and carried out their presentation online. PhD Student İsmail Düger’s presentation titled “Re-Evaluation of Public Sphere in the Context of Virtual Reality Technology” started with the question “Are Virtual Spheres a Public Sphere?” and touched on virtual reality and its limitations. Finally, Ahmet Fuat Polat and Lecturer Dr. Burak Çeber concluded the session by touching on topics such as Misinformation, Disinformation, Malinformation, Deepfake, and the importance of the concept of confirmation with their presentation titled “Disinformation Transformed through Social Media: A Study on Deepfake Technology”. At the end of the session, Emre Tandırlı presented certificates of appreciation to the participants and concluded the session.
