Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University hosted an important symposium in the field of communication organized by the Faculty of Communication. At the event, expert speakers discussed current issues in the sector and shared important information about innovations in the world of communication.
Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University hosted an important symposium organized by the Faculty of Communication on May 13th in the Congress Center Green Hall. The symposium was moderated by Faculty of Communication Assistant Professor Ekin Kadir Selçuk.
Speakers participating in the symposium included Prof. Dr. Ayşe Aslı Sezgin Büyükalaca from Çukurova University, Prof. Dr. Artun Avcı from Marmara University, Dr. Selver Mertoğlu, Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University Faculty of Law Assistant Professor Özgür Başyiğit and Bolu Abant İzzet Baysal University PhD student Sevgi Pilgi took the floor.

Prof. Dr. Ayşe Aslı Sezgin Büyükalaca discussed new applications for learning in digital environments, especially the Wikipedia example and mind mapping in detail. Prof. Dr. Artun Avcı shared information on new obligations imposed on social network providers and freedom of mass communication disinformation, and concluded his speech with the poem "I Want a Country" by Cahit Sıtkı Tarancı.

Dr. Selver Mertoğlu examined cartoons and violent elements in cartoons in the digitalizing world, while also drawing attention to subliminal messages in cartoons. Dr. Professor Özgür Başyiğit discussed employee rights and obligations defined by the Press Labor Law within the scope of developing technology and artificial intelligence.
Our university's doctoral student Sevgi Pilgi analyzed in detail how transmedia storytelling is reflected in television programs, especially the "Welcome to My City" program, and shared it with the participants. Pilgi concluded her speech by saying, "One of the greatest concepts that the internet has brought to our lives is transmedia and convergence." The symposium ended with the presentation of documents to the participants by the Dean of the Faculty of Communication, Emre Tandırlı.
